दोस्तो इस  series में आप को english grammar के सभी chapter के बारे में पूरी जानकारी रूल के साथ हिंदी में दी जाएगी। आज के पहले चैप्टर में आप Articles के बारे में पढ़ेंगे।

             The Article (A, An, The)

Articles दो प्रकार के होते हैं -

1. Indefinite article
2. Definite article

A और An को indefinite Article कहा जाता है, क्योंकि ये किसी निश्चित व्यक्ति, वस्तु या स्थान की ओर संकेत नहीं करते।

The को Definite Article कहा जाता है क्योंकि यह किसी निश्चित व्यक्ति, वस्तु या स्थान की ओर संकेत करता है।

Use of 'A' or 'An' Articles

'A' Article का प्रयोग

1. उस एकवचन संज्ञा (singular noun) से पहले जो व्यंजन (consonant) से आरम्भ होता है, उस में A का प्रयोग किया जाता है। यहाँ आरम्भ होने का अर्थ उसकी आरम्भ की ध्वनि से है।
जैसे - a dog, a pen, a pencil, a book etc.

2. उस एकवचन संज्ञा (Singular Noun) से पहले भी A का प्रयोग होता है जो E या U से आरम्भ होते हैं परंतु यू की ध्वनि से बोले जाते हैं। जैसे - a university, a European, a Union

3. उस एकवचन संज्ञा के साथ a का प्रयोग होता है जो O से आरम्भ होता है परन्तु व की ध्वनि से बोला जाता है। जैसे - a one rupee note, a one way ticket.

An article का प्रयोग

1. उस एकवचन संज्ञा (singular noun) से पहले An आता है जो किसी स्वर Vowel (a, e, i, o, u) से आरम्भ होते हैं और Vowel की ध्वनि ( अ, आ, इ, ई, उ, ऊ, ए, ऐ, ओ, औ) से बोले जाते हैं, जैसे - an egg, an umbrella, an ear, an eagle etc.


2.उस एकवचन संज्ञा से पहले भी An आता है जो व्यंजन से आरम्भ होता है, परन्तु स्वर की ध्वनि से बोला जाता है, जैसे an M.A., an S.H.O., an M.L.A.

नोट:- इन शब्द की full forms से में यह नियम लागू नही होता क्योंकि फिर इनकी ध्वनि बदल जाती है, जैसे - a  Member of Parliament.

3. उस एकवचन संज्ञा के साथ भी An का प्रयोग होगा जो शुरू तो व्यंजन ह से होता है किंतु ह silent होता है और स्वर की ध्वनि से आरम्भ होता है, जैसे - an honest, an hour, an hotel, an honour.

कुछ phrases तथा professions के नाम के साथ भी a और an articles का प्रयोग किया जाता है जैसे - , a few, a lot, a doctor, a peon, a clerk, an artist, an operator

Use of Article 'The'

नक्षत्रों के नाम, कुछ देशों व प्रान्तों के नाम से पहले, सागरों, झीलों, पहाड़ों,  ग्रन्थों, पुस्तकों, जातियों, समुदाय, ऐतिहासिक धरोहर, किसी पार्टी आदि के नाम से पहले The article का प्रयोग किया जाता है, जैसे - The moon, the andamans, the usa, the gita, the zoo etc.

Some Rules Of Article 'The'

1. नक्षत्रों के नाम से पहले, जैसे

The sun, the moon, the earth, the stars.

2. दिशाओं के नाम से पहले जब इनसे पहले Preposition दे रखा हो, जैसे The sun rises in the east and sets in the west. (East, West से पहले Preposition है)

East or West, home is the best. (East, West से पूर्व Preposttion है)

3. Ships (जहाजों), trains (गाड़ियोँ), seas (समुन्द्रों), mountains (पहाडों), islands ( द्वीपो). dams (बांधों) deserts (मरुस्थलों), Seas (समुद्रा), 0ceans (महासागरों)

canals (नहरों) के नाम से पहले; 

जैसे - 

The Vikram, the Frontier Mail, the Arabian Sea, the Indian Ocan, the Panama

Canal, the Dal lake, the Himnalayas, the Andamans, the Bhakra Dam, the Sahara

Desert.

Note: एक पहाड़ अथवा एक टापू के नाम से पहले The नही लगाया जाता, जैसे -Mount

Everest, Sri Lanka.

4. कुछ Countries (देशों) और Provinces (प्रांतों) के नाम से पहले, जैसे

The U.S. A., the Punjab, the Deccan.

5. Religious Books (धार्मिक ग्रन्थों), newspapers (समाचार पत्रो), magazines (पत्रिकाओं) के नाम से पहले, जैसे

The Gita, the Indian Exprcss.

6. Nattons (जातियों) और Communities (सम्प्रदायों) के नाम से पहले 

जैसे - The Ernglish ( अंग्रेज लोग), the French (फ्रांसीसी), the Hindus (हिंदू) ।

7. उस sigular noun से पहले जो पूरी जाति का बोध कराता हो, जैसे - The dog is a Faithful animal.

8. उस proper noun से पहले जो common noun के रूप में प्रयोग किया गया हो जैसे- Kashmir is the Switzerland of Asia.

9. उन Comumorn Nouns से पहले जिनका उल्लेख पहले हो गया हो तथा उन words से पहले जिनसे पूर्व

परिचय हो, जैसे

There was a fox. The fox was hungry. (पूर्व उल्लेख)

I know the man who came here last night. (पूर्व उल्लेख)

10. Workshop, factory, bank आदि के नाम से पहले, जैसे

The Delhi Cloth Mills, The Punjab National Bank.

11. किसी पार्टी अथवा संगठन के नाम से पहले, जैसे

The Congress, the Lok Dal.

12. ऐतिहासिक भवनों तथा सार्वजनिक स्थानों के नाम से पहले, जैसे

The Taj Mahal, the Golden Temple, the Zoo.

13. Adjectine + proper Noun से पहले, जैसे

The lttle Shilpa is a shy girl.

14. विधि बताने वाले परिमाणवाची शब्दों से पहले, जैसे

By the metre, by the dozen, by the kilogram.

15. Proper Nouns का बहुवचन बनाने के लिए, जैसे

The Guptas, the Browns, the Sharmas.

16. बड़े-बड़े पदों (ranks) से पहले, जैसे

The Prime Minister of India, the President of India, the Principal of the school.

17. ऐतिहासिक घटनाओं से पहले, जैसे

The battle of Panipat, the Mutiny of 1857.

18. Date (तिथि) से पहले, जैसे

India became free on the 15th of August.

19. Evening, morning, afternoon से पहले, यदि इनसे पहले last, next या every शब्द न दे रखा हो, जैसे

I get up in the early morning.

20. Comparatitve Degree से पहले, यदि उसके आगे than नहीं दे रखा हो. जैसे

She is the wiser of the two.

The older he grew, the worse he became.

21. उन adjectives से पहले जो nouns के रूप में प्रयोग होते हैं, जैसे - the poor, the brave

22. All और both के बाद article the का प्रयोग जैसे -  all the boys,  both the girls

23. Whole और same से पहले article the का प्रयोग जैसे - the whole class was absent.
Their ages are the same.

24. Superlative degree से पहले article the का प्रयोग जैसे - the most intelligent boy.

25. यदि किसी adjective को noun के बाद लगा दिया जाता है तो उस adjective से पहले the article का प्रयोग किया जाता है, जैसे - Ashoka  the great.
